Meeting Your Perfect Partner Visualization

 

Meeting your significant other is the first priority on many people’s lists. They try dating, social websites, meeting someone through friends, but somehow it never turns out to be what they hoped. Perhaps it’s the lack of a clear image of what their perfect partner should look and be like that keeps them from finding the right one. If you’re one of them, have you tried visualization? Forming a mental image so powerful that it can make your feelings blossom – that’s visualization. The goal of this visualization exercise is to make you clearly depict meeting a partner, man or woman, that would be perfect for you in every way, and to feel the connection and emotion that you’d be feeling if it was real.

Preparation stage

  1. Specify your goal: be as specific as you can in defining the goal of your visualization – do you want to meet a perfect lover, or a future parent to your children?
  2. Choose at least one image to keep in your mind before you start visualizing: this should be detailed scene of your meeting that you’ll be adding more details to as you’re visualizing.
  3. Set a schedule and find a quiet place for your visualization. Set some time of the day that will be your “visualizing time” (best times are when you wake up in the morning and right before you go to sleep, but you can choose your own), and count that the visualization should take between 20-30 minutes.

Steps to visualizing meeting your perfect partner

We have divided the Steps section to “male” and “female” for practical reasons only – if you like the other scenario better, you can do that one, we don’t mind 🙂 The first and the last steps are the same no matter which scenario you choose.

For men – meeting a perfect woman

Let’s say that the image you choose is the one in a bar. You’re having a drink with your friends, she approaches and you start the conversation.

  1. Relax. Clear your mind. Sit in a relaxed position, close your eyes, take deep breaths, and focus on your breathing. Slowly count to ten.
  2. Break visualization down into senses. Start building the image, including every detail: how is the light, who else is there with you, what are you drinking, are you sitting or standing, which shirt you’re wearing, who is she with, what her hair looks like, is she dancing or sitting. What do you hear around you: what kind of music is playing, is it loud, can you hear your friends laughing, someone is telling you something – what is it? Feel the glass in your hand, the floor you’re standing on, other people’s bodies pushing you to pass by. She’s near you, can you smell her perfume? What does your drink taste like?
  3. Third person view. Now play the scenario, as if you were watching a movie – she approaches, she’s looking at you, she says “hi”, what do you say? How do you behave? What are you talking about? Who is she, what does she do? Play the scene as you’d want it to happen, don’t think about whether it’s possible or not – this is your visualization.
  4. First person view. How are you feeling now? Are you confident, you see that she’s laughing at your jokes, she likes you, the conversation goes smoothly – you feel that she could be the one. You’re not nervous, she makes you feel relaxed. Let yourself feel the joy for being in her presence, and for knowing that she’s here to stay. Keep that feeling for a few minutes as you play the scenario.
  5. Wrap it up. It’s time to let go. Slowly let the image disappear.

For women – meeting a perfect man

We’ll pretend that you’d like to meet your future husband on holiday, on some tropical island. He is laying 3 feet from you on the beach, and he starts the conversation by asking you to borrow your sunscreen lotion.

  1. Relax. Clear your mind. Sit in a relaxed position, close your eyes, take deep breaths, and focus on your breathing. Slowly count to ten.
  2. Break visualization down into senses. Build the image slowly: see the colors on your towel and on your swimming suite, look how far is the water, is it crowded, then move on to him – what he looks like, is he working on his laptop or just laying on his towel, how is his hear. Now work through the other senses: see the noise on the beach, the children playing, you can hear music from a nearby cafe and the waves. You move your hand through the sand – what does it feel like? Take some water that you have with you and taste it in your mouth. Smell the sea air mixed with the smell of your lotion.
  3. Third person view. You can play the scenario now – he lifts his head, looks at you and asks you for the sunscreen lotion. How do you give it to him, what do you say? How do you continue the conversation? You see that he’s cute, you start flirting a bit, he sees that and accepts your game, but he’s not making you uncomfortable – he’s just open enough, not pushy. What are you talking about? Does he suggest to go together to the bar on the beach, or is it your idea?
  4. First person view. You feel that your stomach is tingling and that you really like the way he looks at you and smiles. Feel the excitement of expecting him to ask for your phone number, let the butterflies fly. You know that he wants you, and you want him, you have met your perfect lover, let that feeling last for a few minutes.
  5. Wrap it up. As difficult as it is 🙂 let the image slowly go away. Your visualization was successful, and you can let go now.
