You probably already have some basic knowledge on what the law of attraction is, and now we shall talk about how it works and how you can use it to attract what you want.
The law of attraction says that when we think a lot about something, no matter if it’s something we enjoy in, something we’d like to have, or something that hurts us, we attach our emotions to that thought, and send the “message” to the Universe that it is important to us, attracting even more of it in our life.
This is important to understand: our thoughts and our emotions aren’t necessarily aligned. For example, when you think about an ex lover who left you, and you suffer from it, the message that you’re sending out is: give me more to suffer about related to my ex – attracting the photos of the time you were happy together, news about how happy s/he is without you, etc.
That’s not what you want, is it – you want him/her back, and although your thoughts are saying that, your emotions are saying something else – they’re saying that the thought of your ex makes you unhappy; the message is being interpreted as a whole, and you have to be aware of that.
How It All Works
The concept is based upon the belief that the Universe is made of energy, which can be focused and used to attract things into our lives. We are capable of controlling it with our minds if we can focus strongly enough – when our conscious and our unconscious self are aligned, when our thoughts and our emotions are saying the same thing, the vibrations that the energy of our minds send out are capable of attracting/manifesting that what we’re thinking about.
The definition that “like attracts like” is exactly that – if we are focused mostly on the positive things and emotions, we’ll attract more of them, and vice versa. That’s why a positive mindset is the first and most important thing when you want to manifest good things, things that make you happy.
So, when we manifest things, we actually manipulate the energy. The energy can’t be destroyed, but it can be transformed, and we are capable of transforming it into anything we want.
Only, it takes work to do that; everything that we are is also made of energy, but to channel it we have to align our thoughts, beliefs and emotions to make them into a sort of a funnel for what we want to manifest. For most people this isn’t something they do routinely, so it takes them time to learn how to properly channel their thoughts and to connect them to the positive emotions, and to practice manifestation daily.
The process itself is fairly simple: focus on what you want to manifest – money, love of your life, a piece of lemon cake. Imagine that you already have it, act like you own it already and let yourself feel the emotion of joy because you have it. If it’s a new house, you can find a photo of your dream house and put it on your vision board, imagine how you will arrange it, and, very important, enjoy every moment of it – you have to invest your emotional energy as well.
According to the LoAers, when you do that – when you successfully align your desires with the firm belief that what you want is coming to you, the Universe will rearrange itself to make it happen for you. Now – unless you’re a master LoAer, your dream home won’t come to you out of nowhere; the Universe will, for example, make the house you want available on the market, or will make your financial situation better, so that you can buy it. But manifestation will always require you to take action, and to be prepared to receive what you’ve asked for.
Now you probably see why it’s best to start with the small things and go bigger – it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to attract your dream house on your first try, and that’s also why regular practice is important, as well as the education on how the law of attraction works. Many people give up after a few hours of daydreaming, because they have misunderstood the basics – that they have to become 100% aligned with their desires, mentally, emotionally and practically if they want it to work for them.

Simply put, if you believe that the law of attraction works and that you can manifest whatever you want, you will accept that it happens with or without you consciously directing it: good or bad in your life, it’s you behind it. When you accept that, it’s only logical to want to make things in your life work for you, not against you – and practicing manifestation is a way in which you can control it and take things into your hands. The first step however is to switch to the positive mindset, and to believe that the law of attraction will work for you if you let it. But first, it needs you not only to be ready to go all out and get what you want, but to actually do it - just like Oprah and so many others did.
